At Coast Wilderness Medical, our mission statement is to provide students with the very best first aid training they need for the lifestyle they love to live. That’s why, in 2021, we asked select trainers and athletes to work Coast’s finest instructors to develop specialized training courses that deliver context-specific first aid, rescue and preparation, and tons of hands-on skills practice with a group of like-minded people. We have had wonderful feedback on our first two courses – focused on rock climbing and trail running – and are very excited for our first ski touring course in December!
Check the specialized training opportunities below, and contact us if there is a course you’d like to see – or if you are an industry leader who is interested in partnering with Coast on this exciting initiative!
Note: These courses are only scheduled a few times a year, when schedules, availability and weather coincide. If the course you are interested in is not currently scheduled, use the contact link to be notified when new dates are available.

The Red Cross Wilderness & Remote First Aid Field Guide has been designed with input from medical professionals and remote medical personnel from across Canada, especially for first aid practitioners operating in wilderness environments.
The Mountaineer sets the standard for mountaineering first aid kits with supplies capable of treating a group of 10 people for up to 28 days over a broad range of injuries. Trusted by the International Mountain Guides as an expedition first aid kit, this group medical kit is equally suited for urban disasters or other situations where medical care is inaccessible.
Comprehensive yet compact, the Explorer is the ideal backpacking first aid kit for families or small groups headed out on a week-long adventure. This medical kit contains an abundance of first aid supplies to treat injuries and illnesses on extended camping or hiking trips. Hospital-quality supplies like wound closure strips and a CPR face shield let you treat blisters, close wounds, and administer CPR. A variety of medications let you manage everything from pain to allergies, while the single-use thermometer lets you monitor fevers. First aid hiking essentials are organized by injury into clearly-labeled pockets using the Easy Care™ organization system, making it easy for anyone in your group to provide fast and effective first aid. The water-resistant medical bag features semi-transparent pockets to keep the contents safe and easy to access for your whole trip. Add the Mountain Explorer kit to your backpacking gear to keep you and your group safe wherever your journey takes you.
The Ultralight / Watertight Series features proprietary DryFlex™ bags for the ultimate in ultralight, waterproof storage. Ideal for the multi-sport athlete that refuses to be let down or weighed down by his or her gear. The Ultralight / Watertight .9 has been tested, abused, and approved by adventure racers in the Eco Challenge, Primal Quest, and Raid Gauloises. Designed for one to four people on trips up to four days, this is an ideal kit for adventures who may be exposed to the elements. Two inner DryFlex™ waterproof liners and seam-sealed outer silnylon bags provide multiple layers of protection from the elements.
The patented C-A-T® is a true one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research. Tests proved that the CAT completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage.
This compact satellite communicator helps you keep home with you when you’re off the grid — adding peace of mind to every adventure, without adding weight to your pack.
*Please note, we do not carry an active stock, so there may be a delay of a few business days before we can fulfill your order
