At Coast Wilderness Medical, our mission statement is to provide students with the very best first aid training they need for the lifestyle they love to live. That’s why, in 2021, we asked select trainers and athletes to work Coast’s finest instructors to develop specialized training courses that deliver context-specific first aid, rescue and preparation, and tons of hands-on skills practice with a group of like-minded people. We have had wonderful feedback on our first two courses – focused on rock climbing and trail running – and are very excited for our first ski touring course in December!

Prerequisite: Unexpired 20 hour Remote First Aid (or equivalent).

Have you been spending more time in the backcountry, finding yourself on some gnarlier adventures? Then it might be time to upgrade your training! Wilderness First Aid adds advanced interventions, multiple casualty scenarios, emergency scene leadership, and crisis scene management to your core RFA skills. Avalanche Companion Rescue RFA

Prerequisite: Unexpired WFR, OEC, OFA-3, FR or equivalent.

Complement your backcountry skills with professional level urban training that offers a wide range of career opportunities. Emergency Medical Responders are currently in demand, working in vital roles on ambulance, for fire departments, on industrial sites, in event medicine, and more. This is 5 days of training from experienced paramedics, with one-on-one learning support during the online pre-study, classroom learning from the best paramedic instructors in the city, and unlimited free practice sessions and support after your course is done.

Note: This course is a prerequisite for provincial licensing exams, or for paramedic programs in BC and Alberta.
